Root Lenovo K6 Power:

Honestly speaking, I have an inner inquisitiveness about rooting every possible devices that I get my hands on. Naturally I wanted to root K6 Power as soon as I bought the cell. But could manage to find any such tutorials on youtube. So after waiting till March 2017 I finally got to root my device. In order to root your Lenovo K6 Power you need to unlock its security shield i.e, the boot-loader. Now that was another crazy task. below this I am giving you step-by-step guide on how to proceed with rooting your device and extending its capacity.

Unlock Bootloader:

Well this is the primary step that you need to follow before rooting Lenovo K6 power. Without an unlocked bootloader you cannot install a custom recovery i.e., TWRP recovery and flash any Superuser zip file to root your device.

You can follow this post right here where I have given detailed explanation on how to unlock bootloader using ADB and fastboot commands.

Installing Custom Recovery:

The inbuilt stock recovery system is not strong enough and has very less facilities which limits you from flashing any third-party zip files. That is why you need to flash a custom recovery. So in this case we are using TWRP recovery. For detailed instructions on how to flash TWRP recovery in Lenovo K6 power you can follow the link given below.

Flashing the File:

Now in order to root your phone, you can either flash file or you can opt in for a much advanced application which gives you systemless routing facility that is Magisk. Both of the flashing processes you can get from the links below.

Flashing Custom ROM:

If you just want to change your phone stock ROM then it is not necessary for you to root your device because the most important step for changing your phones original ROM is the installation of custom recovery. Since all the custom rom zip files and the gapps files are flashed via custom recovery i.e., TWRP recovery.

You'll find links for specific custom ROMs from XDA website but here is something that I need to add about flashing your custom ROM. Our device's processor is a 64 bit  one but this stock ROM happens to be 32 bit OS thus having a lot of processor unused. However, you can definitely try out some 64 bit ROMs which give you a more enhance performance on a device.

If you just want to flash USB extended version custom ROM from your stock ROM on Lenovo K6 power then you might find some errors while flashing it in the TWRP recovery. So for this I would advise you to first update this stock ROM to Lineage OS and then head over to subsequent updates whichever OS you want to apply.

In my personal opinion I  found DOT OS and crDROID ROM containing Android version 7.1.2 is the best sort of Nougat ROM available for Lenovo K6 power and other than that if we head over to oreo then definitely lineage OS 15.1 is the only choice.

I have attached below the links of all custom ROMs available for Lenovo K6 power as well as the gapps file which is necessary for flashing. Also you can follow up the YouTube video guides that is available on this playlist below.

Had Fun? Back to Stock ROM!

As of now most of my videos that I make on YouTube are edited on my Lenovo K6 Power. As I have seen that in those custom OS video rendering using kinemaster and other video coding apps, crashes and gets force closed. So I had to head back to flashing stock ROM using QFIL tool. Details about which you will find in the link that follows.

So these are the things that I have done with Lenovo K6 power for the past 2 years. Do let me know in the comments section below if you have tried out something other than this on your device. Also if you face any problems while flashing custom recovery and custom rom on a device don't hesitate in writing below I shall try to reply you as soon as possible.
